Like I always say, 'life is not predictable.' Most times we get what we don't deserve.
I want to use the privilege to celebrate our friends, brothers and sisters whose genotype are SS. Seriously speaking, you don't know how lucky you're if your genotype is AA or AS.
I've come to understand that the motherless, fatherless, widows, sick are not the only people that needs help. While you assist others, please remember them.
The cost of living for victims of sickle cell, is expensive. Most parents can afford it, thus exposing their innocent children to untimely death.
Sickle cell patients are fighter, they are warriors, they're part of us. They're brave. They deserve all the whole privileges we're enjoying.
We should never think we're better than them. We should never think less of them. We're all equal but mistakes of our parents have made some look inferior which is not supposed to be.
Today happens to be their day. The world is celebrating them. I'm celebrating them.
I so much love you friend for asking me to do this. You've been a friend I so much admire, you've always being the first to love my posts. I never knew you're a victim of this, I just want to assure you and others that my love for you will never depreciate. In fact, your courage to tell me to write a post of awareness on this has increased my love for you. I love you sweetheart.
Now to the singles out there, please don't allow love make you put your unborn babies at risk. They don't deserve to suffer for your mistakes.
For those that don't know:
AA can marry AS, SS and AA.
AS can only marry AA.
SS can only marry AA.
Check your genotype before you tie the knot. It's importance can't be overemphasized.
Happy sickle cell day, beauties and handsomes.
I've an eternal love for you.
